Tudor Tales

Hello, I’m Allie – a home – educating mum in the UK with a lifelong love for the Tudor era. I’ve always been drawn to the stories behind history: the family life, the quiet routines, and the everyday people who lived through extraordinary change.

This blog is my little corner of the internet to explore Tudor life gently and creativity. I write about the things that fascinate me most – women’s stories, monarchs, domestic life, faith practices, childhood, and the rhythms of ordinary Tudor households.

I hope these posts feel like sitting down with a warm drink and opening a window into the past. Whether you’re a fellow history lover, a home – educating parent, or simply about the Tudors, you’re very welcome here.

Why the Tudors?

The Tudor world has always held a quiet pull for me — full of contrasts, candlelight, and the small human moments that sit between the grand events. It’s an era shaped by faith, ritual, power, and the everyday rhythms of ordinary people, and I’m endlessly drawn to the stories that often slip through the cracks of traditional history books.

Part of that love has grown from the way the Tudors come alive on screen. From richly imagined TV series to the documentaries I watch curled up in the evenings, these glimpses into Tudor life spark my curiosity and make the past feel close enough to touch. They remind me that behind every portrait and every palace corridor were real people with hopes, fears, and complicated lives.

This blog is my way of gathering those threads — the history, the storytelling, the quiet fascination — and offering them back in a gentle, candlelit way.
